1981 Census

Background

The 1981 United Kingdom Census was conducted on the night of the 5th-6th of April 1981. In England and Wales the work was carried out by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys (OPCS), in Scotland by the General Registrars Office for Scotland (GROS) and in Northern Ireland by the Census Office of the Department of Health and Social Security

Getting the Data

The 1981 Small Area Statistics are available to download using the Casweb web application. A 'Login to Casweb' button is provided in the left hand menu. Access to the data is by the use of Athens userid's and is available free of charge to all staff and students at UK higher and further education establishments.
